From our small beginnings as a volunteer run organization in 1979, to becoming a nationally-recognized organization focused on connecting San Diego to the world, we are proud of our past and excited about our future. Monetary Gifts

Gifts that are not designated for a particular program or activity provide the funds to help sustain our vital programs and enhance global engagement through diplomacy. Gifts of Stocks and Securities
Did you know that cash isn’t the only way you can donate to charity. Many donors are now choosing to give shares of appreciated stock because of the benefits to the donor and charitable organization. Key benefits to donating appreciated stock include:
- You and the charity avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated stock.
- Receive a charitable tax income tax deduction for the full market value of the gift.
- When you donate stock, your dollar goes further than if you were to sell the stock and donate cash. You are maximizing your philanthropic impact.

How to make your stock gift
Notify San Diego Diplomacy Council of your stock transfer by contacting Lulu Bonning (lulu@sandiegodiplomacy.org). Your stock gift does not come with donor information, so please provide the following information: name; type of stock; number of shares and/or approximate value of gift.

Planned Giving
Many of our supporters have included the San Diego Diplomacy Council in their wills. Consider naming the San Diego Diplomacy Council in your trust or will or making a memorial gift in honor of a loved one. Please contact us with any questions.

IRA Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
20If you are 70.5 or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA will help support San Diego Diplomacy Council and provide tax savings to you. You can give any amount up to $105,000 annually from your IRA directly to a qualified charity.
When you make a Qualified Charitable Distribution you pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income or a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions. Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This is a tax efficient way to make your philanthropic impact!

Your stock gift does not come with donor information, so please provide the following information: your name; donation amount; your financial institution that is sending the donation.
