Brett McGurk, former special presidential envoy for the global coalition to defeat ISIS, gave a riveting presentation revealing his fundamental approach to foreign policy: assessing ends, means and resources. The former American diplomat defined Washington’s current policy as incoherence, prioritizing sanctions over strategy. McGurk highlighted the importance of clear objectives in diplomacy and the alignment of resources in achieving those goals. The talk was followed by questions from the audience on U.S. foreign policies and fight against ISIS.
