Celebrate San Diego Diplomacy Council's 40th birthday with us!
In honor of our birthday, we're throwing an awesome party at Park & Rec! Come dressed in your raddest 80s attire and ready to dance the night away to our binational region’s legendary 80s tribute band Rock of Ages. Your admission includes two drinks and freshly prepared tacos and gorditas. There will be live and silent auctions and prizes awarded for the best 80s outfits.

Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit

Deepen Your Understanding of Diplomacy
The San Diego Diplomacy Council is pleased to host the Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit and Learning Lab in San Diego, CA this fall in partnership with Global Ties U.S. and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Innovation in the Cali Baja Region & Beyond
Open to the general public, the Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit on September 20 will focus on "Innovation in the Cali Baja Region and Beyond."
For members of the Global Ties Network, the Learning Lab on September 19 will provide a space for tailored workshops on IVLP programming best practices, crisis communications, and other relevant topics.
Join us for locally and globally focused conversations that inspire engagement on issues impacting the Cali Baja region and beyond. Together, we will foster connections and growth in the international exchange community, as well as celebrate the critical role that public and citizen diplomacy exchange programs play in building a more peaceful, prosperous binational region and world.
The Summit will convene local, national, and international leaders in business, government, and nonprofit sectors. We will focus on:
Binational Innovation
Learn how regional leaders are working collaboratively across our border in the fields of education, technology, and government to enhance innovation and accelerate progress in the Cali Baja region.
Alumni Stories
Hear first-hand stories from program alumni about how their exchange experiences forever changed their perceptions, their future decisions, and their life trajectories.
Border Tour
Visit the U.S.-Mexico border to understand to the world’s busiest land border crossing from the nuanced perspectives of the security, human rights, and business communities.
Youth Track
San Diego area university and high school students will also be invited to attend a special youth track of our summit which will include an interactive border security simulation and discussion of careers in public diplomacy or foreign affairs.
Tijuana Gastro Diplomacy Tour
Saturday, September 21
Experience the Gastronomy of Tijuana
You don’t want to miss our Gastro Diplomacy tour through Tijuana led by Turista Libre. Tour T.J. like a local. Cost to attend is $75 and includes transportation to/from the U.S. Mexico Border, transportation within Mexico, lunch, and libations. Valid U.S. passports required as we will be traveling to Mexico.
