During our interview with Zimbabwean creative artist Nyarie Nhongonhema, she mentioned that an easy way to support artists during this time when they can’t interact face to face with an audience, is by simply viewing their creative work across social media platforms. Nyarie emphasized, “If it’s a live video, if it’s a show or if it’s a live performance that is on Facebook, that is on Youtube, that is on Instagram, just go click like.” Not only does this encourage artists for the work they are doing, but it also serves as a source of income for many of them. “Share the content, because the more your content is viewed online, the more your content it heard, the more profit it generates,” she continued to explain.

Cook Off premiered on Netflix on June 1^st, 2020. This is the first Zimbabwean film to be featured on Netflix! This film follows the journey of a single mother with a passion for cooking, when her son enters her into a reality cooking show and sees an opportunity for greatness. HOPE MASIKE

Hope Masike has won several awards including, but not limited to, the National Arts Merit Award and the Zimbabwe’s Achievers Award. She has also won an award for the best music video for her song Huyai Tinamate. In addition, Hope’s song Ndinewe is her most viewed music video on YouTube with 59k views.
