From January 27 to February 1, 16 Young Leaders from different European countries visited San Diego in order to be introduced and provided broad exposure to current U.S. social, political, and economic issues and associated policy formulation. They also examined interrelated U.S. foreign and domestic policy topics, including homeland security and intelligence gathering; trade and economic development; immigration and integration; health and social services; environment and climate change; energy; and the role of diversity, the individual, and religion in the United States.

During their visit, the Young European Leaders met with Congressman Duncan Hunter to discuss contemporary immigration issues, as well as Professor David Engstrom from San Diego State University to discuss American Politics and immigration reform.
