E-Culinary Diplomacy: The Japanese Art of Sushi Making

Join San Diego Diplomacy Council and renowned Sushi Chef, Jeff Roberto, for an introduction into the Japanese culinary art of Sushi-making. In this virtual class, you will learn the fundamentals of making traditional and non-traditional rolls (Maki), handrolls (Temaki), Sushi style Nigiri, and Sashimi, as well as presentation techniques and sushi etiquette.

Opening remarks will be given by Japanese cultural and protocol expert Diana K. Rowland, Founder and President of cross-cultural consulting firm IntXel. Ms. Rowland will share her insight into the significance of sushi-making in Japanese culture.

Jeff Roberto is a formally trained Sushi Chef, who has been working in the Sushi industry for over 30 years. His Company, Sushi On A Roll (SOAR), has been on the forefront of the sushi industry in San Diego. Currently celebrating its 27th year in business, SOAR is the only Sushi catering company of its kind, providing Sushi for a wide array of hotels, catering, Country Clubs and concerts. SOAR can do small intimate parties or events for thousands. Jeff consults with several restaurants and hotels in San Diego, setting up and designing their sushi programs.
