5 visitors from Uruguay will be coming to examine the American criminal justice system, with an emphasis on U.S. efforts to protect and promote women’s rights, women’s access to justice, and the welfare of children within the juvenile justice system. They will explore best practices and challenges within the U.S. corrections system in the incarceration and rehabilitation of women and juveniles; enhance insight into the role and contributions of women leaders in addressing social justice and human rights issues, particularly for marginalized populations; and gain exposure to strategies and mechanisms designed to empower and prepare women to assume leadership roles and become effective agents of social change.
