All of our events embody the mission of the San Diego Diplomacy Council: to build peace, stability and prosperity between the United States and other nations around the world.
45th Anniversary Celebration
Please note this event is now past.
The San Diego Diplomacy Council is excited and proud to honor our 45th anniversary this year! From our small beginnings as a volunteer run organization in 1979, to becoming a nationally-recognized organization focused on connecting San Diego to the world, we are proud of our past and excited about our future. None of our growth or impact could have been realized without the support of you, our San Diego community. Please join us to celebrate the impact of 45 years, learn about our aspirations, and support our next 45 years!
Ukrainian Business Leaders Global Social Hour
To celebrate the Ukrainian Business Leaders: Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship (UBL PIE) delegation visiting San Diego, the San Diego Diplomacy Council (SDDC) is hosting a Global Social Hour. This networking event offers a chance for our visiting Ukrainian leaders to connect with the San Diego community, including SDDC Members, and representatives of House of Ukraine.
On The Road Again! 2022 Fundraiser

The San Diego Diplomacy Council is excited to be back on April 2 with “On the Road Again,” our first in-person fundraiser in two years! Join us for food, drinks, a silent auction, networking, and live music by Mitchum Yacoub, while supporting a great cause.
Have you ever wanted to be a part of a citizen diplomacy trip like our international visitors travel on? Are you curious about Cuba amidst transition under their new President? The San Diego Diplomacy Council has partnered with Cuba Cultural Travel to offer citizen diplomacy trips to Cuba in 2019 and 2020. The itineraries included visits with professors, journalists, artists, historians and alumni of our exchange programs across the country in Havana, Artemisa, Cienfuegos and Trinidad.
Diplomacy Signature Event
The Diplomacy Signature Event, formerly called the Annual Diplomacy Gala, is a unique celebration that features an elegant cocktail hour with international entertainment, unique keynote speakers, live auctions, and the bestowment of the Hostler Diplomat of the Year Award and Partner Agency of the Year Award. In addition, the event offers a great opportunity for networking for our 200+ guests, that include diplomats, elected officials, business and civic leaders.
The Global Social Hour Series
Our Global Social Hour Series provide a unique social forum for San Diego professionals and residents to personally interact with international current and emerging leaders. Our Global Social Hours highlight the expertise and perspective of a visiting delegation on a specific global issue.
The Cultural Diplomacy Series offer international cultural and art educational events to raise our community’s global awareness in a fun and socializing environment. The concept is to offer you a unique understanding of a country’s language, customs, religion and art through culinary class, art exhibits, theater plays and live music.
Our Talk-About Series focus on issues of current concern and are presented in the format of a panel discussion with generally one or two subject-matter experts and a mediator. The Series take place at local libraries and are open to non-members.
Annual Members Meeting
Every year, in June, members of the organization get a chance to catch up with fellow members and share their experience. During the meeting, we vote for new board members and recognize outstanding members and volunteers of the year. This is also the opportunity to enjoy a multi-ethnic food potluck at a beautiful location and listen to some live music!
Welcoming Receptions for Special International Guests
The San Diego Diplomacy Council regularly organizes private receptions to welcome influential and remarkable guests that have accomplished successes in addressing global challenges and are actors of change in their country of origin. The events are an opportunity to connect them with their professional and individual counterparts in San Diego in a more casual and informal setting.
