The San Diego Diplomacy Council, in collaboration with the National Ability Center and the Exodus Social Justice Volley Ball Club, is proud to embark on our first Youth Sports Diplomacy Program! Our 12 players and coaches will be leaving for Vietnam and Laos in less than two weeks and are getting ready by trying Vietnamese food and learning to use chopsticks for the first time!
It is a lifetime opportunity for young female athletes from diverse social and cultural backgrounds to transcend their differences and become U.S ambassadors for peace, prosperity, and stability. Our delegation will play exhibition games against local teams, run clinics for at-risk youth, and explore topics related to youth leadership, environmental sustainability, and women’s empowerment while forging global friendships and representing the United States of America through sports diplomacy.
This project is organized in collaboration with the National Ability Center and is funded through an International Sports Programming Initiative cooperative agreement through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.
While we have funds to cover flights, lodging, and meals, we are seeking additional support from you – the San Diego community – to cover costs related to administering this program, providing suitcases for three of our players, cultural opportunities to our teams, and helping with other travel-related expenses in order to make this program possible. Join our efforts by making an in-kind or financial donation today! If you cannot donate, you can form a team to help get the word out about this program and assist in raising money for this important cause. For more information, contact operations@sandiegodiplomacy.org
