Lasting Connections Between Youth and IVLP Alumni – Our Impact Stories

February 10, 2020 Leave a Comment

A group of students from La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS) recently had the opportunity to visit the Netherlands where they had a successful Model UN trip to The Hague and were able to reconnect with Naomi Ter Haar, one of our International Visitor Leadership Program  alumni. In November 2019, Naomi Ter Haar visited LJCDS as part of the European Women Leaders delegation on Citizens Day. Ms. Ter Haar currently serves as the Senior Policy Officer in the ministry of defense and participates in the Young Defense to exchange ideas on security and defense among young people. “It’s one thing to host a foreign exchange participant and talk with them extensively about their country, but a greater one to actually experience that other country in person and with a local leader as a cultural guide. This is a  clear testament of the value of our citizen diplomacy programs”, said Fabienne Perlov, our Executive Director.
