Fellowship Programs Creating Global Partnerships

July 11, 2017 Leave a Comment

While participating in a business fellowship, Zamir a Russian fellow worked with Downtown San Diego Partnership and forged an international connection through the mutual interests of business in startups. Zamir’s experience is a perfect example of our fellowship programs creating global partnerships. After completing his fellowship, Zamir invited Downtown San Diego Partnership’s Andy White back to Russia to engage with the largest StartUp event in Eastern Europe.

Zamir describes his experience with the following quote:

“After visiting San Diego and working with Andy White at Downtown San Diego partnership, I realized how many things we have in common and that startup community in all the countries are struggling with the same issues starting with idea generation and ending with raising capital for companies growth.

It was our intention to have Andy come to the biggest startup event in Eastern Europe “Startup Village”, and since I know the organizers, we got Andy to speak on the big stage with other experts on trends, next steps and things that he believed in to invest.
Also we had the chance to meet many contacts from Russian and European markets that I know personally and luckily introduced to Andy to them as well. Those connections are something that can work very well in the future, when building a global network or helping a startup to grow. You always pull out or old business cards and start searching for that one person in the new country.
I’ve enjoyed being part of PFP program and it really does build bridges between people and nations.”
