7 visitors from multiple countries will highlight how the UNCLOS III economic and resource clauses apply to the Pacific Ocean and SCS. They will also examine the role of large and small fish extraction enterprises, explore the rights and responsibilities of nations with respect to their use of the world’s common resources including fisheries management (to include illegal fishing, mining and oil extraction) and marine protected areas, assess options for peaceful dispute resolution and cooperative intervention to prevent piracy and illegal activities, and address U.S. policy regarding the Pacific and SCS economic and territorial disputes.
