Dean J. Haas, SDDC Board Director and former Foreign Service Officer. Dean is currently the principal/owner of DJH Coaching. He also serves as a part-time Senior Advisor and Leadership Coach for the U.S. State Department. From 1987 to 2011, Dean served as an officer in the U.S. Foreign Service, retiring with the rank of Minister-Counselor. His 25 years of diplomatic service saw him assigned to Slovenia, Canada, Turkey, and Colombia.
Sarah Nugent, IVLP Program Officer with the Office of International Visitors in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Sarah has worked on the State Department’s flagship professional exchange program, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), for 10 years. She began her career as an intern at the San Diego Diplomacy Council and was hired as a Program Manager shortly after graduation.
Jawad Al Baghdadi, Community Representative at the Office of Congresswoman Susan Davis. Jawad specializes in healthcare issues, and works directly with constituents on Department of State casework, among other responsibilities. He has previously interned at the San Diego Diplomacy Council and UC San Diego’s Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation.
Eddy Holman, Peace Corps Volunteer. After graduating from San Diego State University last year, Eddy joined the Peace Corps which has taken him to Ethiopia to work on public health projects. Along with all 7,000+ of his fellow Peace Corps Volunteers serving across the globe, he has returned back to the United States due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
