Travel Connects People with People

February 16, 2018 Leave a Comment

The San Diego Diplomacy Council would like to thank everyone who joined us this past Tuesday February 13, at our Travel as Political Act Event. We learned a lot about how to get the most out of your travels from Steve Smith who has 32 years of experience as a traveler and Jake Heilbrunn who backpacked across Central America for 4 months without a cellphone and without knowing Spanish. They both brought great perspectives for connecting people from different cultures and emphasized how no matter the age or where they are everyone can make those connections. We also had a great conversation about American citizens traveling with the purpose of learning about other cultures beyond stereotypes, sharing about the diversity in the United States and connecting with citizens. Thank you to Steve Smith and Jake Heilbrunn for speaking to us as well as our sponsors as well as our partners, the Worldview Project, La Jolla Library and Sharon Payne our Board Director for making this event a success!
